Taloja

Our Taloja facility, located in  Raigad district, Maharashtra, 45km from Mumbai, has a rich history dating back to 1971 when it was commissioned by INDAL. Today, under Hindalco Industries Ltd.’s ownership, the plant has evolved into a pioneer in aluminium flat-rolled products in India, with more than 25% of its production reaching customers across 64 countries. The plant contributes to 25% of our total rolled products, with 20% of its output dedicated to lithographic applications. At the time of commissioning, the facility had an installed capacity of 11,500TPA, which has since grown to 60,000TPA.

In partnership with our subsidiary Novelis, the Taloja facility is committed to meeting world-class standards in quality and hygiene, and is a leader in the domestic market for its specialised product portfolio. It holds the highest market share in India for litho sheets, foil stock, closure stock, auto fin stock, lamp caps, and aluminium composite panels.

The Taloja campus includes state-of-the-art hot mills, cold mills, finishing equipment, as well as auxiliary and supporting equipment. Additionally, it is home to the country's first aluminium scrap recycling unit, which was established in 1996, with a current capacity of producing 20,000 tonnes of recycled metal from scrap.

At Hindalco, we operate three world-class research and development centres, one of which is situated in Taloja. Known as HIC-Semifab, this NABL-accredited centre specialises in the areas of tribology, energy and environment management, and aluminium fabricated products and their applications. This R&D centre is a hub of innovation and continues to drive our growth and leadership in the aluminium downstream sector.
