Hindalco Industries Limited, the metals flagship of the Aditya Birla Group, is one of the largest aluminium rolling and recycling companies across the globe, and with its subsidiary, Novelis, a global leader in flat rolled products. It is also a major copper player, and is recognised as a prominent global player in specialty alumina and hydrates.

Innovation powers our journey to unveil new products, alloys, and designs, catering to emerging opportunities.

Hindalco's Research, Development, and Technology team drives greener and sustainable processes, transforming capabilities in resource securitisation, energy and water conservation, cost optimisation, and waste upcycling. In FY24-25, we developed 53 new products and were granted 560+ patents.

In India, Hindalco’s aluminium solutions significantly support the nation's green mobility and decarbonisation efforts. Key innovations include India's first aluminium trailer, bulker, electric bus, all-aluminium railway freight rake, vaccine vial caps, EV battery enclosures, and last-mile transport solutions.

Rooted in sustainability

Steered by our purpose, Hindalco has made sustainability the backbone of our operations and strategy.

Hindalco sustainability actions are centered around carbon neutrality, zero waste to landfill, no net loss to biodiversity, water positivity, and health and safety. As a result, Hindalco has consistently been ranked at the top for ESG scores in the global aluminium sector in the S&P Dow Jones Indices since 2020.

Hindalco launched and implemented an industry-first Sustainable Mining Charter to guide sustainable practices throughout the mining process.

One of our industry-leading initiatives has been to promote circular economy and achieve 100% upcycling of red mud at three of our alumina refineries. In line with our goal of enabling circularity, our Copper business is setting up India’s first e-waste recycling facility in Gujarat.

Our key focus is gender diversity, and we continue to push for greater diversity in hiring at the entry-level. At Hindalco hiring of women GETs (Graduate Engineer Trainees) has risen to over 40% through the years.

Empowering the people who make up our communities and creating value for them is our priority. Our CSR initiatives have enriched over 2.5 million+ lives across India, through projects organised under 5 focus areas – Education, Healthcare, Sustainable Livelihood, Infrastructure Development and Social Change.

One of our flagship projects is the Kosala Livelihood and Social Foundation. This Hindalco initiative began with the objective of reviving the tribal craft of Kosa silk, indigenous to the Dewangan community of Chhattisgarh. Its purpose is to build a sustainable ecosystem for its artisan community and create platforms which allow global patrons to access traditional crafts.
