Manufacturing flat-rolled products for industrial and consumer needs

Flat rolled products

Our state-of-the-art rolling facilities in India and abroad help transform our high-quality rolling ingots into value-added flat-rolled products. These are used by businesses and end consumers in applications such as building sheets, cookware, electrical equipment, automotive, appliances, defence and space, printing, beverages, and building and construction.

Novelis, our wholly owned subsidiary, is a global giant in flat-rolled aluminium products. In addition, it leads the world in aluminium recycling with over 82 billion recycled aluminium cans every year, indicating its long-standing commitment to sustainability. Ever since Hindalco acquired Novelis in 2007, it has sealed its position as the largest flat-rolled aluminium producer in the world and the largest downstream aluminium player in India.

We produce aluminum coils and sheets from our Cast Slabs and Cast Coils, rolled down to the desired thickness and specifications. One of the largest markets served by our FRP segment is beverage packaging. Aluminium beverage cans are one of our most significant flat-rolled products applications, especially given the global push toward sustainable packaging solutions. Hindalco's FRP applications serve diverse markets, ranging from construction to cookware.

Our commitment to innovation

Our commitment to innovation

We pay special attention to quality in our downstream businesses and have developed a framework known as Build Quality in Process (BQiP) to help us identify opportunities for improvement in our operations. The BQiP assessment is carried out at several of our downstream facilities, including Hirakud, Renukoot FRP, Belur and Taloja.

We have a world-class R&D team that focuses on developing sustainable aluminium-based solutions for transport, packaging and other sectors. Our team at Renukoot FRP facility has recently developed a new patented busbar alloy for application in two-wheeler electric vehicles. This alloy has excellent formability and electrical conductivity, with real-world testing showing a consistent increase of 25% in wire pull-off load in assembly.
