We acquired the continuous copper rod and ABC wire facility in Asoj, Gujarat in 2021 from Polycab India as part of our downstream expansion strategy. This acquisition enhances our leadership position in the downstream copper market, enabling us to meet the growing demand for copper across sectors such as power and electrification, construction, and transport. Post this acquisition, Birla Copper now ranks among the world’s top three copper rod players, outside of China. The Asoj facility offers us a time-to-market advantage and also aligns with our ESG focus, as its copper wire rod facility uses German technology, consumes less energy, and emits significantly less carbon.
