Synergies to build a sustainable tomorrow–Dalla Stone Quarry

ESG

In FY 2023‐24, we decided to to create a standard operating procedure (SOP)for eco‐restoration of abandoned stone quarries with bauxite residue, bottom ash and local soil. We worked with prestigious think tanks and regulatory bodies like the Aluminium Association of India; Central Pollution Control Board; Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal; Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi; and Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad, for the initiative. The SOP will serve as the guideline for afforestation and eco-restoration of abandoned quarries and mines across the country.

The initiative will restore flora, fauna and topography of the respective sites.

Bauxite residue and fly ash road project

To establish successful application of bauxite residue, we are working with NHAI (National Highways Authority of India), CRRI (Central Road Research Institute), IRC (Indian Road Congress), IMMT (Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology), Bhubaneshwar, HG Infra, CPCB and SPCB (State Pollution Control Board). As part of the initiative, roads will be built using bauxite residue and fly ash as an embankment and sub-base material.
